...WHAT COULD BE BETTER

The Languedoc is preparing itself, as are the other regions of France, for the mother of all local elections, les Régionales! nothing is more confusing or more amusing and please do not try to understand. Our current President of region is a Mr Frêche (pronounced fresh) who looks anything but, would dearly like to be reelected and maybe will be for all I know, lost the support of the central socialist party because of a clearly antisemitic remarque but has also the support of the local Jewish community, see what I mean! This most puzzling state of affairs is what the South of France is all about, a chaos weirder than the butterfly effect, an anti-political-correctness with a vengeance: I did once see a fire engine stopped dead by a game of boules where the player insisted on playing his turn before giving the road back to the screaming truck... Who can blame him?
